The MTC

We entered the Mission Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah on January 9, 2012. The first week we spent learning how to invite people to come unto Christ using the Preach My Gospel manual. We also had Spanish language tutoring at night. We were kept very busy and had long hours. We got up at 5:30 am and it would be about 9:00 pm when we arrived back at our room. Because of the limited space for couples at the MTC, we stayed at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Provo. We were organized into districts and we had two instructors. Our instructor for the morning was Brother Carrington and the afternoon instructor was Brother Albertson. Our Spanish tutor was Hermana King.

The second week our instruction was about working in the mission office. We covered financial operations, housing, mission letters, convert data entry, and vehicles.

It was an amazing two weeks. We felt the Spirit so strongly. We were impressed by how smoothly everything went there. We were spiritually feed and our testimonies were strengthened.

Not the Farewell

Spencer, Dallin, Jacob and Garrett were our reluctant send off committee. We will miss you!

On December 18, 2011 Sister and Elder Choules spoke in sacrament meeting of our ward. Susan spoke on Trusting the Savior and Philip spoke about what a person needed to do in order for the Holy Ghost to change their heart (Mosiah 5:2). After we had a get together at our house for many of our relatives.

The Call

On Friday, November 18, 2011 we received our call from Thomas S. Monson, the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Texas McAllen Mission. We were very excited to know that we would be serving the Lord in McAllen, Texas in the Mission Office. We were also excited to know that we would be serving near our daughter Emily and her family. We had been waiting since the first part of October for our call to come. We were also relieved that the wait was over and to know that we would be entering the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah on January 9, 2012.
